Darko Štefanec
Illustrator, map artist, editor.
Born 1960, in Zagreb, Croatia.
While working as a graphic designer during ’80, he noticed the lack of illustrated maps of Croatia and decide to found STEF Ltd., a publishing company and design studio for producing tourist panoramic maps.
For celebrating the 900th anniversary of Zagreb in 1994, he created a series of seven panoramic maps of Zagreb and several tourist brochures that made great success and have remained, with frequent updating, in use until today.
Then came trips to various tourist destinations in Croatia and abroad, visiting diverse of tourism fairs and fellow tourist cartographers in Europe to learn and perfect his technique in this interesting craft. Until today, he worked with colleagues and associates on over 80 tourist map projects and brochures of Croatian tourist destinations…and a few more every year.
